Abstract :
Inthepaperapossibilityofusinginatargetofanacceleratordrivensystem(ADS)amodifiedlead–bismutheutectic(LBE)inwhichnaturallead(Pb-nat)isreplacedbyaleadisotope,Pb-208,isconsidered.SpectraofneutronsinsideandoutsidethetargetconsistedfromthemodifiedLBEs,Pb-208(80%)–Bi(20%)andPb-208(90%)–Bi(10%),arecalculatedusingMonteCarlocode.ItisshownthatinsuchthetargetsaharderspectrumofneutronsisrealizedascomparedwiththespectrumoftheconventionaltargetLBE,Pb-nat(45%)–Bi(55%).TheinducedactivityofsuchthemodifiedLBEtargetisreducedduetodepletingthematerialwithneutronsofintermediateenergy,10–100keVandreducingashareofbismuthintheLBEfrom55%downto10–20%.
