The beam equation as a limit of a 1-D nonlinear von Kármán model Original Research Article

We prove that the one-dimensional von Kármán system of equations describing the planar motion of a uniform prismatic beam of length L approaches (weakly) to a nonlocal beam equation of Timoshenkoʹs type as a suitable parameter tends to zero.
