Smoothing variational splines Original Research Article

This paper deals with the problem of constructing some free-form curves and surfaces from given Lagrangian and/or Hermite data. We define the smoothing variational spline function by minimizing a certain quadratic functional in a Sobolev space and establish the convergence of the associated method.
