Atrial modulation of sinoatrial pacemaker rate

Atrial tissue is known to modulate the pacemaker activity of the sinoatrial node, and it is suggested that acetylcholine (ACh) applied to the atrium can slow the sinoatrial pacemaker. These experimental observations are explained using a two coupled cell, and a coupled fibre, model of sinoatrial nodal and atrial tissue.
