Schrödingerʹs equation with Bornʹs guidance

Schrödingerʹs equation may be obtained from the statistical mechanics of random walks, without recourse to guided diffusion. Although quantum mechanics does not follow from this particular result, the exercise of deriving Schrödingerʹs equation in a context where it has an unambiguous microscopic model provides some insight into more phenomenological approaches. Brownian motion in time is discussed as a possible bridge between Schrödingerʹs equation and quantum mechanics.
