Abstract :
The trace anomaly is relevant to the renormalisation of the unpolarised parton distributions. It enters in much the same way as the axial anomaly in the spin dependent structure function and is important to our understanding of the local γ∗ (glue) interaction. The parton distributions which are defined via a cut-off on the transverse momentum correspond to a proton with the wrong mass.
