A microscopic quark model of πN → KΣ reactions for heavy-ion collisions

We investigate the process πN → KΣ in a microscopic quark model for heavy-ion collisions. In the model the effective 3P0 quark-antiquark creation and annihilation vertex is applied. The relative motion of the meson and baryon in the initial (and final) state is taken as plane waves, while the internal quark wave functions of the hadrons are described by harmonic oscillator wave functions. Predictions of the model are reasonably in agreement with the available experimental data.
