Abstract :
The effective action for baryons in external electromagnetic fields is found in the framework of the relativistic approach developed by Y.A. Simonov. Charge radii and electric polarizabilities of the proton (〈rp2〉12 = 0.7 fm, αp = 10 × 10−4 fm3) and neutron (〈rn2〉12 = 0.28 fm, αn = 1.5 × 10−4 fm3) are estimated. Our results are in reasonable agreement with experimental values.
