Abstract :
The Interacting Boson Model (IBM) has provided a clear interpretation of the ΔI = 4 bifurcation phenomenon in ground bands of rotational nuclei as due to the finite boson number. The IBM then predicts the existence of an anomalous staggering in the masses of the ground states of rotational nuclei. This theoretical predication is found in the experimental binding energies of the rotational nuclei in the actinide region.
