Abstract :
We consider the conditions necessary for the invariance of a massless scalar field in two dimensions, under the influence of Lorentz boosts in Minkowski space, and time translations in Rindler space, which are related by a coordinate transformation. We find that we need to adopt a discrete set of Lorentz boosts in Minkowski space, and the stress tensor we calculate is found to contain the familiar Unruh flux. Our action possesses a duality symmetry with respect to a dimensionless parameter, relating to Lorentz boosts in Minkowski space. A link with more conventional thermodynamical aspects of Rindler space is presented, and some possible implications for the entropy of Rindler space are discussed.
