A new method of distinguishing models of the high-Q2 events at HERA

Many explanations for the excess high-Q2 e+p→e+X events from H1 and ZEUS at HERA have been proposed, but each has attracted criticism. We propose a new method which distinguishes different models by looking at a new observable which is insensitive to parton distribution function, but sensitive to new physics.
