Calculation of the mass of a generalised monopole

A numerical analysis of the second member of a hierarchy of SU(2) Higgs models, the first member of which is the Georgi–Glashow model in the Prasad–Sommerfield limit, is presented. The model supports non-self-dual monopole solutions. The masses of these monopoles are computed as functions of 3 dimensionless coupling constants in the model, and it is found that for certain values of the coupling constants the monopole is very close to the self-dual field configuration.
