Inelastic photon scattering and the magnetic moment of the Δ (1232) resonance

The reaction γ+p→γ′+p+π0 has been suggested as a means to deduce the Δ+ magnetic moment. The cross section for this process is estimated in both the constituent quark model and an effective Lagrangian procedure. The resulting total cross section is of the order 5–10 nb, which is at the limit of present experimental capabilities.
