Abstract
This article discusses the need to redesign engineering education in the US. The author emphasizes that the prime directive of engineering education must be subject integration. The solution is not merely teaching more math and science, or experimenting with the curricula to remove this suite of subjects and add that series of topics. It should be about teaching tomorrowʹs engineers how to make tough choices and tradeoffs that blend both the technical and nontechnical aspects of a problem into a choice that has real value to society.
