The relationship between the direct and weak formulations of a linearised Riemann solver for systems of conservation laws

The direct and weak formulations of a linearised Riemann solver attributable to Roe and Toumi are shown to be equivalent for certain systems of conservation laws and particular parameter vectors. It is demonstrated, however, that in other cases this is not necessarily true.
