Well-conditioning for variable coefficient second order boundary value difference systems

In this paper, well-conditioning of nonhomogeneous variable coefficient second order boundary value systems is studied. First, the constant coefficient case is treated. Considering appropriate truncated problems and the behavior of perturbed problems with respect to a constant coefficient one, sufficient conditions for well-conditioning expressed in terms of the data are given.
