Some remarks on structural relations between the tau method and the finite element method

We discuss structural relations between the Tau Method and the Finite Element Method (discrete step h). For a Dirichlet problem in dimensions one and two, we show that the difference between the solution given by each of these methods is bounded by C h in the norm of the Sobolev space H10(Ω).
