Simultaneous diagonalization of rectangular matrices

Necessary and sufficient conditions are formulated for two matrices having the same number of rows and columns to be be simultaneously diagonalized using a single equivalence transformation. The method for obtaining the transformation depends on using the Moore-Penrose pseu-doinverse and a full rank factorization of the matrices being diagonalized.
