Abstract
In this article we show that quantum dynamics is the most natural generalization of classical dynamics from the point of view of optimal control. Employing the techniques of dynamic programming, we derive the Schrödinger equation starting from the Lagrangian defined in terms of Nelsonʹs forward and backward velocities. The generalization to the relativistic case is also analyzed and the Klein Gordon Equation is similarly derived.
