A refined “angle between normals” criterion for scattered data interpolation

We design and test a refined “angle between normals” criterion for the construction of data-dependent triangulation of given points scattered in R2. We try to design the criterion so that the corresponding piecewise linear interpolation will fit the given data “as smooth as possible”. Numerical tests confirm the validity of our approach.
