On transverse stability of synchronized chaotic attractors

We consider the stability of the synchronized chaotic attractor of two identical, symmetrically coupled chaotic systems. The transverse stability of the synchronized chaotic attractor can be investigated based on the linearization of the transverse flow. In a numerical study we also demonstrate the applicability of an approximate approach to understand monotonic and asymptotic stability (synchronization) as well as on-off (chaos-hyperchaos) intermittency.
