Abstract
Tryggvasonʹs method computes two phase flows by smoothing the regions near the boundaries between the two fluids. This requires averaging of the fluid properties, which may differ by orders of magnitude and can lead to large errors. Traditional linear averaging produces a first order error that can be extremely large. In this paper, we show that for a number of simple test cases, averaging of the inverses of the properties can lead to a significant improvement in the quality of the results.
