A simulation study of some tooling problems in automated manufacturing

A simulation model has been developed to analyze the effects of tool configuration, tool replenishing, and tool sharing. A feature of the model is its ability to keep track of tool usage (age). The application of the model is demonstrated using an example problem. Some findings are discussed.
