Abstract :
In this paper, we formulate an optimal weight design problem of 10 bar truss for a constrained displacement and allowable stress as a statically indeterminate structure problem and solve it directly by keeping the constraint based on an improved genetic algorithm (GA). We discuss the efficiency between the proposed method and the discretized optimality criteria methods.
