Abstract :
This paperaddressesthefooddistributiondecisionfromawholesalerʹsperspective,asthewholesalers
are oftenfacedwiththornyissuessuchaswhen,where,howtodeliverproductsatthelowestcosts
to bestsatisfytheretailersʹchangingneeds.Thisresearchreliesonadistributionproblemencountered
at NorthernGroceryCompanyinBeijingasanexampletodevelopatwo-stagesolutionprocedureand
subsequent computer-enabledprogramsforidentifyingefficientvehicleroutingalternatives.Thesolution
process, whichintegratesheuristicsearchalgorithmsandanintegerprogrammingmodel,canbeapplied
to awiderangeofdistributionproblemswithspecifiedroutedurationsandacirculartransportation
network structureasexemplifiedbyCityofBeijing.
