  • Abstract
    Traditionally, processplanningandschedulingwereperformedsequentially,whereschedulingwasim- plemented afterprocessplanshadbeengenerated.Consideringtheircomplementarity,itisnecessaryto integrate thesetwofunctionsmoretightlytoimprovetheperformanceofamanufacturingsystemgreatly. In thispaper,amathematicalmodelofintegratedprocessplanningandschedulinghasbeenformulated. And, anevolutionaryalgorithm-basedapproachhasbeendevelopedtofacilitatetheintegrationandopti- mization ofthesetwofunctions.Toimprovetheoptimizedperformanceoftheapproach,efficientgenetic representation andoperatorschemeshavebeendeveloped.Toverifythefeasibilityandperformanceof the proposedapproach,experimentalstudieshavebeenconductedandcomparisonshavebeenmadebe- tween thisapproachandsomepreviousworks.Theexperimentalresultsshowthattheintegratedprocess planning andschedulingisnecessaryandtheproposedapproachhasachievedsignificantimprovement.
