Abstract :
This paperconsiders`two-stageʹcallcenterswheresomeincomingcallsarecompletedbyfirstservice
while othersrequireanadditionalsecondservice.Althoughthistypeofcallcenterisnotuncommon,
it hasnotbeendealtwith,ifany,inthecallcenterliterature.Inthispaper,weintroducetheconcept
of the`two-stageʹcallcenteranddiscussitsfeatures.Furthermore,wedevelopaneffectiveoutsourcing
strategy in`two-stageʹcallcenters.Tothisend,wemodel`two-stageʹservicesystemandproposeseveral
call routingstructures.Thestructuresarecomparedthroughnumericaltestandconventionalqueueing
theories formthetheoreticalbasisofourstudy.
