Abstract :
This paperpresentsandinvestigatesdifferentapproachestosolveanewbi-objectiveroutingproblem
called theringstarproblem.Itconsistsoflocatingasimplecyclethroughasubsetofnodesofagraph
while optimizingtwokindsofcost.Thefirstobjectiveistheminimizationofaringcostthatisrelatedto
the lengthofthecycle.Thesecondoneistheminimizationofanassignmentcostfromnon-visited
nodes tovisitedones.Inspiteofitsobviousbi-objectiveformulation,thisproblemhasalwaysbeen
investigatedinasingle-objectiveway.Totacklethebi-objectiveringstarproblem,wefirstinvestigate
different stand-alonesearchmethods.Then,weproposetwocooperativestrategiesthatcombinetwo
multi-objectivemetaheuristics:anelitistevolutionaryalgorithmandapopulation-basedlocalsearch.
Weapplythesenewhybridapproachestowell-knownbenchmarktestinstancesanddemonstratetheir
effectivenessincomparisontonon-hybridalgorithmsandtostate-of-the-artmethods.
