Abstract :
Logisticsnetworkdesignisamajorstrategicissueduetoitsimpactontheefficiencyandresponsiveness
of thesupplychain.Thispaperproposesamodelforintegratedlogisticsnetworkdesigntoavoidthe
sub-optimality causedbyaseparate,sequentialdesignofforwardandreverselogisticsnetworks.First,
a bi-objectivemixedintegerprogrammingformulationisdevelopedtominimizethetotalcostsand
maximizetheresponsivenessofalogisticsnetwork.Tofindthesetofnon-dominatedsolutions,an
efficientmulti-objectivememeticalgorithmisdeveloped.Theproposedsolutionalgorithmusesanew
dynamicsearchstrategybyemployingthreedifferentlocalsearches.Toassessthequalityofthenovel
solution approach,thequalityofitsPareto-optimalsolutionsiscomparedtothosegeneratedbyan
existingpowerfulmulti-objectivegeneticalgorithmfromtherecentliteratureandtoexactsolutions
obtainedbyacommercialsolver.
