Many ofthecurrentlyusedcellularnetworkshavebeenconstructedonthepremisethattheretrialphe- nomenon isnegligibleandtheoperatingenvironmentisstatic.However,apropermodelingofthemobile cellular networkcannotignoretheexistenceofrepeatedcalls.Moreover,realsystemsoftenoperatein varying environmentconditions.Inthispaper,weshowhowthematrix-analyticformalismgivesonethe ability toconstructandstudyversatilecellularmobilenetworkswithuserretrialsoperatinginrandom environment. Moreconcretely,weinvestigatetwofour-dimensionalMarkovianmodelswhichallowus to representtwodifferentoptionsfortheuseoftheguardchannelconcept.Weputemphasisonthenu- merical evaluationoftheredialbehaviorandtheenvironmentalfactorsonthesystemperformance.This implies theperformanceanalysisofavarietyofdescriptorsincludingblockingprobabilities(handover and freshcalls),meanaverageanalysis,andwaitingtimeinorbit.
