Abstract :
This paperpresentsanalgorithmbasedonAntColonyOptimizationparadigmtosolvethejoint
productionandmaintenanceschedulingproblem.Thisapproachisdevelopedtodealwiththemodel
previouslyproposedin [3] for theparallelmachinecase.Thismodelisformulatedaccordingtoabi-
objectiveapproachtofindtrade-offsolutionsbetweenbothobjectivesofproductionandmaintenance.
Reliabilitymodelsareusedtotakeintoaccountthemaintenanceaspect.Toimprovethequalityof
solutionsfoundinourpreviousstudy,analgorithmbasedonMulti-ObjectiveAntColonyOptimization
(MOACO)approachisdeveloped.Thegoalistosimultaneouslydeterminethebestassignmentof
productiontaskstomachinesaswellaspreventivemaintenance(PM)periodsoftheproductionsystem,
satisfyingatbestbothobjectivesofproductionandmaintenance.Theexperimentalresultsshowthat
the proposedmethodoutperformstwowell-knownMulti-ObjectiveGeneticAlgorithms(MOGAs):
SPEA 2andNSGAII.
