Abstract :
In theheterogeneousfixedfleetvehicleroutingproblemtherearedifferenttypesofvehiclesandagiven
numberofvehiclesofeachtype.Theresolutionofthisproblemconsistsofassigningthecustomersto
the existingvehiclesand,inrelationtoeachvehicle,definingtheorderofvisitingeachcustomerforthe
deliveryorcollectionofgoods.Theobjectiveistominimizethetotalcosts,satisfyingcustomers’
requirementsandvisitingeachcustomerexactlyonce.Inthispaperatabusearchalgorithmisproposed
and testedonseveralbenchmarkproblems.Thecomputationalexperimentsshowthattheproposed
algorithmproduceshighqualitysolutionswithinanacceptablecomputationtime.Fournewbest
solutionsarereportedforasetoftestproblemsusedintheliterature.
