Abstract
This paperaddressesthepermutationflowlinemanufacturingcellwithsequencedependentfamily
setup timesproblemwiththeobjectivetominimizethemakespancriterion.Wedevelopacooperative
approachincludingageneticalgorithmandabranchandboundprocedure.Thelatteris
probabilisticallyintegratedinthegeneticalgorithminordertoenhancethecurrentsolution.Moreover,
the applicationofthebranchandboundalgorithmisbaseduponthedecompositionoftheprobleminto
subproblems.Theperformanceoftheproposedmethodistestedbynumericalexperimentsonalarge
numberofrepresentativeproblems.
