Abstract :
Working timeaccounts(WTAs)areemployer-orientedflexibilitysystemsthathavebeenappliedin
industrybutcouldbeusedfarmore.WTAsenablecapacitytobeadaptedtofluctuationsindemand.The
requiredcapacity,whichisneededtoplanWTAs,usuallydependsonseveralfactors.Itisoften
impossibletoreliablypredicttherequiredcapacityorunrealistictoadjustittoaprobability
distribution.Insomecases,asetofrequired-capacityscenarioscanbedetermined,eachwitharelated
probability.Thispaperpresentsamultistagestochasticoptimisationmodelthatisrobust(i.e.,provides
a solutionthatisfeasibleforanypossiblescenario)andminimisestheexpectedtotalcost(which
includesthecostofovertimeandthecostofthecapacityshortage).
