Abstract :
The discreteorderedmedianlocationmodelisapowerfultoolinmodelingclassicandalternative
locationproblemsthathavebeenappliedwithsuccesstoalargevarietyofdiscretelocationproblems.
Nevertheless,althoughhublocationmodelshavebeenanalyzedfromthesum,maximumandcoverage
point ofviews,asfarasweknow,theyhaveneverbeenconsideredunderanalternativeunifyingpoint
of view.Inthispaperweconsidernewformulations,basedontheorderedmedianobjectivefunction,
for hublocationproblemswithnewdistributionpatternsinducedbythedifferentusers’roleswithin
the supplychainnetwork.Thisapproachintroducessomepenaltyfactorsassociatedwiththeposition
of anallocationcostwithrespecttothesortedsequenceofthesecosts.Firstwepresentbasic
formulationsforthisproblem,andthendevelopstrongerformulationsbyexploitingpropertiesofthe
model.Theperformanceofalltheseformulationsiscomparedbymeansofacomputationalanalysis.
