Abstract :
This paperdealswiththeproblemofintegratingproductionanddistributionplanningoverperiodsofa
finite horizon.Weconsideracapacity-constrainedplantthatproducesanumberofitemsdistributedbya
fleetofhomogenousvehiclestocustomerswithknowndemandforeachitemineachperiod.The
productionplanningdefinestheamountofeachitemproducedineveryperiod,whilethedistribution
planningdefineswhencustomersshouldbevisited,theamountofeachitemthatshouldbedeliveredto
customers,andthevehicleroutes.Theobjectiveistominimizeproductionandinventorycostsatthe
plant,inventorycostsatthecustomersanddistributioncosts.Weproposetwotabusearchvariantsfor
this problem,onethatinvolvesconstructionandashort-termmemory,andonethatincorporatesalonger
term memoryusedtointegrateapathrelinkingproceduretothefirstvariant.Theproposedtabusearch
variantsaretestedongeneratedinstanceswithuptotenitemsandoninstancesfromtheliterature
involvingasingleitem.
