Abstract :
In thispaper,westudyacoordinatedproduction–transportationschedulingprobleminatwo-machine
flowshopenvironmentwhereasingletransportermaycarryseveraljobssimultaneouslyasabatch
betweenthemachines.Eachjobhasitsownphysical-spacerequirementwhilebeingloadedintothe
transporter.Thegoalistominimizethemakespan.Forthejobswiththesamesizeofphysicalspaceduring
transportation,wepresentaheuristicalgorithmwithanabsoluteworst-caseratioof2andapolynomial-
time optimalalgorithmforaspecialcasewithgivenjobsequence.Forthejobshavingdifferentsizeof
physicalstoragespace,aheuristicalgorithmisconstructedwithanabsoluteworst-caseratioof7/3and
asymptoticworst-caseratioof20/9.Computationalexperimentsdemonstratethatthetwoheuristic
algorithmsdevelopedarecapableofgeneratingnear-optimalsolutionsquickly.
