Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to discuss the Cauchy problem for a quasilinear hyperbolic equation of
the form

with σ -finite Borel measures as initial conditions. In particular, the existence and uniqueness of
global BV solutions with any nonnegative σ -finite Borel measures as initial conditions are obtained
