Abstract
Base-state discontinuities at modal transitions complicate hybrid estimation. Accurate extrapolation
requires the identification of the current mode and its immediate precursor. This paper proposes
a fast version of the Gaussian wavelet estimator that shows good performance in this more difficult
environment.
