Generalized Multiresolution Schemes

The concept of a multiresolution scheme as introduced by A. Harten see, for instance wCAM Report 93-03, 1993; CAM Report 94-10, 1994; ICASE Report No. 94-59, 1994; J. Comput. Phys. 115 1994., 319]338x.is generalized. This generalization is based on a categorical setting which provides a much clearer and a more comprehensive understanding of the subject. Examples show the broad spectrum of applicability of generalized multiresolution schemes
