Abstract :
The method of large-scale averaging has been recently applied to derive a general dual-porosity model of two-phase flow in naturally fractured reservoirs. The present paper is aimed to develop mathematical theory behind the derivation of this model. In particular, two volume averaging theorems which are key mathematical tools in the model derivation are proved rigorously using distribution theory; existence and uniqueness of a weak solution to a simplied dual-porosity model are shown.
