Regularity of the Inversion Problem for the Sturm]Liouville Difference Equation

This is the first part of a study of the inversion for a Sturm]Liouville difference equation. The main results of the paper are a special representation for the Green difference function and a condition for regularity of the inversion problem which is expressed in terms of that function.
