Abstract :
A Jordan basis for the matrix transformation X → ATX + XB, where A, B are companion matrices of xm, xn over the rational field, is constructed by a recursive method. A connection between Jordan bases for the above transformation over an arbitrary field F and the matrix transformation X → (λI + A)TX(μI + B), valid for non-zero elements λ, μ of F, is established.
