Criterion of Hopf Bifurcations without Using Eigenvalues

This paper presents a criterion for a class of Hopf bifurcations using the properties of coefficients of characteristic equations instead of those of eigenvalues. It is related to the Routh-Hurwitz criterion and is convenient in many applications.
