On Random α-Cuts

The concept of random α-cut is first introduced. Then, its properties together with its relations with fuzzy sets and the falling shadow distribution of a random set are examined. This study shows that the falling shadow fuzzy distribution of a random α-cut is influenced very much by the distribution of the random threshold α.
