On the Order of Algebraic Differential Equations Satisfied by Schanuel Functions

We prove that the minimum order of an algebraic differential equation satisfied by a Schanuel function depends on the number of algebraically independent functions needed to build up the function. This extends a result of A. Babakhanian on towers of exponentials.
