Abstract :
ABSTRACT: An ten-week feeding trial wasdone totesti the possibility of replacing fish meal with poultry by-product meal (PBM) in diets of rainbow trout(Oncorhynchos mykiss). Five isoenergetic and isonitrogenous pelleted diets weredesigned to inserting graded levels of PBM. Fish meal was replaced witha graded amounts PBM at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% level (PBM0, PBM25, PBM50, PBM75, PBM100 respectively). The rainbow trout fingerlings were accidentaldistributed into groups of 25 fish (20±3gr) in 300-litter fiberglass tank. In the PBM75 and PBM100 groups, growthrateand feed efficiency were significantly lower comparedto fish fed control diet (P < 0.05). Thedietary level of PBM (PBM100) did significantly affect the condition factor and survival rate of fish (P < 0.05).inclusion of PBM in the trial diets were affectedlipidand moisturevalues of the fish carcass.carcassprotein of control was slightly higher than that of fish fed PBM-based diets. besides PBM50there was no significant different in carcass ash shown. The results suggested that PBMcan bereplaced50% or more of fish meal in diets for rainbow trout withoutadverse effects on fish.
