Abstract :
ABSTRACT: In order to determine the salinity tolerance indices in barley (Hordeum Volgare) varieties, an experiment was conducted in split plot design as Randomized Complete Block with 3 replications in Yazd of Iran. Treatments were 5 levels of salinity of irrigation water, namely 2 (control), 5, 8, 11 and 14 dS/m as main plots and varieties as subplots, namely line 1 (Arigashar/Macouee), line 4 (LB.Iran/Una8271//Glorin), Rodasht and Afzal. The intra row was 20 cm and seed density was 450 seed per square meter. The means of salinity of saturated paste extract in root zone during growth season were 2.9, 5.3, 7.6, 8.5 and 10.4 dS/m for 2, 5, 8, 11 and 14 dS/m of irrigation water treatments, respectively. Results showed that there was a significant difference at 5% level of probability in grain yield of irrigation waters. The maximum of grain yield observed in salinity of 2 dS/m with 5250 kg/ha. Irrigation waters of 5 and 8 dS/m had no significant differences with control in grain yield, but there was significant differences in grain yield of 11 and 14 dS/m of irrigation water with control at 5% level of probability. Rodasht produced the maximum yield of 4982.4 kg/ha among varieties with no significant differences with line 4, and significant differences with line1 and Afzal at 1% level of probability. Based on two-piece linear model, the salinity threshold values (Ct) of Rodasht, line 4, line 1 and Afzal were 6.16, 2.35, 4.59 and 3.54 dS/m with slope of 4.25, 4.05, 4.45 and 4.41%, respectively. The C50 of above varieties was 18.45, 16.19, 15.59 and 16.04 dS/m based on logarithmic model.
