Abstract :
Thispaperproposestheconstitutivemodelforthesheartransferthroughthecracksofpre-crackedreinforcedconcrete(RC)platesubjectedtocombinedaxialandshearstress.Theplateisascalemodelofashearwallofanuclearpowerplant(NPP)building.Twelveplatespecimenswereinitiallycrackedandthenloadedtothefailurepointbyincreasingcyclicshearunderconstantaxialstress.Tangentialshearmodulus,Gcr,valuesareestimatedfromthev–γrelationshipsobservedinthetestresultsandformulatedtotheconstitutivemodelasthecorrelationfunctionofthenormalstrainperpendiculartothecrackplane,εcr,andshearstrain,γcr,basedonthesmearedcrackmodelconcept.ByincorporatingtheproposedmodeltoanonlinearFEManalysisprogramandcomparingtheanalysisresultswiththetestresults,itisapparentthattheprogramcouldbeimprovedinitsanalyticalaccuracy.TheproposedmodelwillbeusefulforthenonlinearanalysisofRCshearwallswhenthewallsareexposedtosimultaneousmulti-directionalload.
