Abstract :
Cross-wireanemometrywasusedtoidentifyandcharacterizecoherentflowpulsationsinisothermalairflownearthegapregionsofafive-rodbundlewithadesignpitch-to-diameterratioof1.149andcontainedinaquasi-trapezoidalduct.Itwasconfirmedthatsuchpulsationsarequasi-periodicandcontributesignificantlytothevelocityfluctuationsacrossthegap.Thefrequencyofpulsationswasfoundtodecreasewithdiminishingrod–wallgapsizeintherangebetween0.015Dand0.250D,whereDistheroddiameter.Thepulsationsinarod–wallgapandanadjacentrod–rodgapwerestronglycoupledandoccurredatthesamefrequencyasonerodwasdisplacedtowardstheductwall.
